Water has the least calories (pure water has zero, to be exact). Carbohydrates (consumed in major quantities by Indians) are considered to add calories, though not as much as fatty substances. One thing that boggles my mind is people\'s infatuation with \"calories\". I always thought that the diet should be balanced, meaning you get the right amount of vitamins, minerals, fats, carbohydrates, protein et cetera into your system rather than worry about \"calories\" alone. Of course fats are absolutely rich in calories. Is it okay to rely on a fatty product and get the 2000 calories needed per day? No. On the other side, can one survive on a zero calorie, yet a ten liter water based diet? No. Balance. That is the key word. Do not worry though. Your body will tell you what you need. When you are dying to have that dessert, you know your body wants some sugars - meaning a lot of calories.
