When I was in a coaching center,after 9/11 many people used to come and ask me what exactly is Pentagon and WTC.I mean come on......WTC was one of the most famous building in the world.
And I would say half of the people who write the exam do not know whats happening around the world.

I agree with a lot of what you say, but just wanted to point out that getting 'A's and proper grades isnt the same as being placed among the top 10 in a state. ( Hell even then you might not get a seat of your choice in a college of your choice.. for example take the medical PG exam where the top ranker had to go to court to have that right to chose.)
