Sad People

by san » Mon May 30, 2005 7:26 pm

I think it's really sad when people go to see a movie all by themselves.

Do you know any sad people (Not sad as in lost someone or failed a exam if u know what i mean) and why do you think they are sad?

There is nothing sad about going to a movie by yourself. If anything, I think it depicts a strength of character to be able to do that. San, the day you can do it is the day you can truly say that you are absolutely comfortable in your own company.

I know a sad person in my office...he's sad abt. everything...life...work...people....

But he wasnt that sad abt. a month back...its only after being asked to do his job (teaching maths) rather than reading novels all day long did he become sad.

You are right. I'm even begining to like him! He does come out with some good stuff now n again. But it's interesting how many people do actually go to the cinema on their own and Luci has thrown such a +ve attitude on the subject.

thats true! i have seen many films on my own, esp when its a film i want to see and all my freinds refuse to see it...it also allows me to concentrate on the film, undistracted by friends' chatter. but this was true in college days. after that i always had company of friends or a girl friend or as in these days, wife! :D

I prefer interesting company, especially nowadays, since the quality of movies has been going down. Case in point: Swades; If me did not have had sir and Rohini for company, I would have walked out.

There are movies which i can and would watch alone like SW, Matrix, etc (since almost every second guy has a major bias for/against these movies), but generally, I prefer company.

But San, I really liked doing that before and would like to do it again now, it seems like an adventure...the only problem is sometimes if I feel like passing a comment, I can't because there will be no one with me to whom I can do so .... otherwise it is a good experience...

Righto...have done that too...but that was with solid backing of a few more girls from my college...

Now doing that alone...and that too in a theatre like prasadz where people don't even react when their favourite hero enters...or even when something funny happens.... well...

On the topic - Sadness is perhaps the most inexplicable of all emotions ....a mood downswing is very unpredictable and in many cases, can't be linbked to any single reason.

I think most sadness stems from a negative attitude. I know and try avoiding people who are always negative....people who are never enthusiastic in whatever they do or are not interested in elaborating and describing their happy moments and who find something wrong in every happy situation...such people are really sad...:(

quality going down.. ? the quality is down at the bottom of the pit and it is rotting there !! Company of friends is a blessing in that even bad movies become funny movies if we go with friends. we can always make fun of the director/actors/writers.

But sometimes I cant help becoming a sad guy, because I have no option in that. Do you guys take the volvo buses to mumbai/vizag/bangalore etc. ? They make sure they put 2 movies - right out of hell - before the journey ends. And since I travel mostly alone, I end up becoming a BIG bakra. Oh how I wish I could avoid those days !!

Pardon me San, but I have gone for a movie on my own! And I'm definitely not sad!

Like Lucifer said, a very small percentage of people is comfortable with themselves. And not every one is willing to swim against the tide. Believe it or not, I have a huge circle of friends and a day out alone is not an indicator of my limited social skills.

I work all week and if friends are not around to give me company over the weekend, why should I change my plans ? In fact on one Sunday, I remember, doing a bit of shopping on my own, catching lunch on my own and then going for a movie all by myself. Heck! I even went bungee jumping all by myself (bcoz I missed my chance in Hyd and it was one of those 'have-to-do-atleast-once things!). Yes, people I mentioned this to, were definitely surprised but it all depends on how you look at it.

Of course the fact that I didn't have my siblings with me made me take off on my own more thanonce, but I'm at ease doing it again and my eye-brows are not going to shoot up if I hear someone else having a day out by themselves.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are right.

not to mention the wildlife spotting opportunities. last time i was in a cinema down south i saw at least 4 large animals, travelling as a pack underneath the seats. and the walls were melting too. that was a weird day actually.
