You statement: I have a very good friend who is gemn of a guy... always helping others... kind of there when u need most... well settled... and kinda cool guy except for one thing... He loves pulling down his friends (drastically, shamelessly) in front of the person he is in love with ---- What do we do... you want from us?

Oh boy! that\'s quite a personality! Sounds more like a classic split-personality nut-case or a milder version of Jekyl and Hyde. I am surprised, you call him a \"gem of a guy\". I would rather prefer someone who has none of these benevolent qualities but doesn\'t indulge in the cardinal sin of looking down or pulling down someone in front of others (whatever be the perverse desire).
