Love cannot be defined as physical properties are defined because it is a perception or feeling that an INDIVIDUAL experiences. there is a thin line between love and co-dependencey. I have come across a few \"definitions\", one of which seems to indicate that not being able to live without someone or thoughts about them is NOT love but a dependency. Love as I understand is choosing to live with somebody rather than without, when you can live a complete life without that somebody. The important word is CHOOSING indication your own volition or free will. All said and done, it is just another feeling.

love!!! when u\'re not able to differentiate between your and his happiness, and the distance doesn'\t matter for u and u don\'t care how far he is from you since still he\'s in your heart... love is patience... sacrifice... happiness... tolerance...

\'Love\' is something you know nothing about but want to be involved in.
\'Love\' is also something you were involved in before and never want to be in future.
Simply there ain\'t a thing called \'Love\'. It is a \'chatak masala\' that Prithviraj made up when he entered the filmdom.
This is my own on-the-spurt definition. Pardon me if it sucks.

Warning: This may get to be damn boring... feel free to skip this posting

Priya et al, I’ve been a mute observer for both the threads started by Priya. Don’t know why and what I wanted to utter, but just wanted to give myself a try. Here it goes…

You wake up w/ a sudden jolt early morning and try to recall the knowingly unknown face that was haunting you, and the voice that was calling from somewhere deep inside. You have an urge to recall the same feeling but all the efforts are in vain. No hope... You start preparing for your daily activities … everything is normal... surroundings seems to be perfect … as if nothing really happened... but somewhere inside yourself, you know for sure that there was a ramp evoked inside you... you can’t be sure what it was all about.

You are heading for something... walking aloof with only your thoughts as your partaker … suddenly there is a voice speaking in your mind as if it had to say something to you... you give a silent squeak and try to get over it … you ask yourself... ‘hey whatz wrong w/ me...

You are seriously on some job … but there is something to draw your attention which recalls a past glory... and the next instance your mind gets crooked … u get carried away with an unknown instinct… at one moment you finally realize that u were lost somewhere... you just simply laugh at yourself and get back to your previous job...

You go to bed and try to sleep … your sleepy eyes try to throw another vision afar from what it had been seeing through all the day long … they walk in the streets of dreams… you are falling... falling from heights that were never seen before... u keep falling and there is this faint contour you pass by … and that would be your only hope to keep yourselves from falling … u utter a helpless cry and the contour gives you support and an assurance... u keep on talking to that contour.. different scenes... different gestures … different postures... sometimes you laugh w/ it... sometimes you cry... sometimes you hug it... sometimes you throw it but want to be with it the very next moment. In a short while the contour takes a familiar shape... you are surprised... you are shocked … but you are happy and u feel secure... feels like you are assured... and then you wake up w/ a sudden jolt… :)

And the life goes on and on...

If ever you came across these kinda similar feelings then may be u had found a proper definition for the topic.
If it was found, please throw some light on me as it was always something like an undefined definition all these years of living in this world.

Thanks for reading all this useless crap for this long and I had no right to kill your time, folks. But it was just that I was wondering whether this kind of whirls are common and is this something related to the thing so called LOVE.

Good luck and peace to all.

Hey guys, let me take my shot over this. First thing: love can be defined only by people who are in it. But again, you will never really able to judge when you have really fallen in love. SO the big question is how to know that u truly, really love someone. Well, as per my analysis, when a feeling comes in you from deep inside your heart that you can\'t live without that person in the sense that even after your death you want that person to be with you, holding your hand, speaking to you, loving you... i. e. you don\'t want even death to separate you, and you want her in every sec, every minute, every hour, everywhere in your life without even a single moment of separation, that is when you are in love.

Ha ha haa... Thanks for your comment, Jatinder. Indeed, I used to feel the same way sometime earlier :). But can you brief me what is not a phobia in this world? But you might\'ve noticed an uncertainty in the way I tried to describe it. May be the reason behind is that I was too dumbfounded to define this called LOVE. History proves that LOVE had miracles, wonders and at the same time it was responsible for bloodsheds and disasters. But yet there was no standard universal definition for the word LOVE. Perhaps this is one of the most distinguished term that boggled many of the great people in past, present... Of course, maybe in future too. Hark back to Oscar Wilde\'s famous \'In Memoriam\' in this regard…

....Yet each man kills the thing he loves
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!

Some kill their love when they are young,
And some when they are old;
Some strangle with the hands of Lust,
Some with the hands of Gold:
The kindest use a knife, because
The dead so soon grow cold...

That\'s all for now. Comments appreciated.

By the way, everybody talks about the brighter side of LOVE.. what about the adversity of it?

Have fun! Adios

Hey Anil ...Man u are much of a philosophist....there\'s a law which says that the moment you define a thing it changes because your ego becomes a part of the description of the object...same with love...its such an intensely personal experience that the way it feels in the mind body and heart is secretly and undefinably personal for each one of us and thus cannot be compared...yet there\'s a paradox as the feeling may seems to have some common patterns too.

No its not only about giving space..but its about filling the vacuum in you also.... When her smile can make you cry with joy....then you\\\'re in love....when you take good care of yourself for her, its love and when you get all the peace in the world lying down in her lap, with she caressing your hair and you wish that you\\\'re still not born....I guess its love....

No, no one can define or describe love, its BEYOND words. of course ppl attemp to do so, but its only penning down their own experiences and notions, but LOVE is unexplainable. how can u describe the feeling when as a mother u hold ur new born for the first time? there r many such feelings and emotions in love and v cant explain or describe each one of it, just attempt to do so.
and havent v all heard \"Words cant say what Love can do\"?!!!

Well Arun This Might Get Boring Beyond Your Defination Of Love!

So inspite of its popularity in humanity\'s field of experience, the word love is rarely defined. There are many references to its causes and effects, but a simple definition apparently escapes most writers. To this end I hereby offer one i.e. Relating on a higher level.

To understand the meaning of this definition we have to first define the words \"relating\" and \"higher level\". By relating, I am implying two entities and a mutual comprehension between them. By higher level, I mean a level of integration beyond the three dimensional world based on the 5 senses. Putting these two things together brings us to a more verbose definition which can be stated as follows; Love is the mutual interrelationship of two entities on a level of integration beyond our \"sensible\" three-dimensional world.

The next point to consider is the implication of a precise definition of love. Assuming the definition I have presented is right, what practical considerations does it imply? One obvious one is to separate sex from love, which should be understood as two separate things. Love can exist without sex and sex can exist without love.

Accepting my definition would clarify one of the most muddled, subjective areas of human relationship. Using my definition, we can conclude that the sex act can have the potential to emotionally focus the vague, indefinable feelings that love causes between two people. Likewise, two people in love can use sex to celebrate their mutual relationship, although its not really necessary if the two people have a high enough level of consciousness.

The opposite implication of my definition is that any three-dimensional, selfish use of sex for personal ego gratification or mutual psychic masturbation cannot be rationalized or qualified by calling it love.

Another practical implication of my definition is the ability to sort out the jumble of emotional states between entities that are usually lumped into the generic use of the word love. For instance, you cannot love New York, apple pie, the smell of napalm, a good fight or any other thing that does not have the ability to relate back to you on a higher level. Any appreciation of something on a higher level that cannot reciprocate in kind should properly be considered adoration.

From an esoteric perspective, this definition implies a more profound respect for what love is, as relating and understanding on higher levels is what esoteric philosophy is dedicated to accomplishing. The conclusion to be drawn from all this in an esoteric sense is that love is another way to gain consciousness once you know how to apply the psychic energy it contains.

Love is not rare at all, we only need a clean heart to see through!! Yeah, that\'s right, Priya has initiated something for everyone here on this board. She is our local female version of Yash Chopra & Karan Johar who are hooked on love themes!! I wonder if she is writing a script or something. She is definitely getting the juiciest stuff through the web.
