. Unfortunately, we did not have time to look at the markets. Karseong (sp) and Siligudi (near Darjeeling) are waaaaayyyy cheap, and it is very doubtful if Kolkata would be any cheaper. The Hong Kong market in Siligudi (and the Chowrasta in Karsaong) was overflowing with footwear and electronics and it was sooo cheap that it blew away the famed fashion street/chor bazar of mumbai.

Advise to anyone visiting Darjeeling or thereabouts: Take lots of money with you. Do NOT miss Chawrasta near Karsaong and the Hong Kong market in Siligudi. Shop till you drop

As far as I could make out, the stuff there was genuine (though not exactly top-of-the-line). There are some tell-tale signatures of cheap stuff, and some signnatures of genuine and good quality stuff that a discerning person would be able to pick up. I have been to quite a few flea markets, and this one is among the best.

Actually, the proximity to the Nepal border is the reason for the markets' cheap rate and genuine stuff. They were also sellin cheap stuff, like 4 pencl batteries for 10 Rs; but the cheap stuff was easily identifiable.

They dont but I didnt know that they do not teach evolution in some universities.There are of course christian protesters who protest against the teaching of evolution.I dont think Kansas is a redneck state.
